Opportunities

As soon as I got out of the house, I blinked my eyes; the ocean-blue sky directed the sunlight straight into my eyes. My breathing created a tiny damp cloud and my cheeks turned red after a little while because of the below zero temperature. I raised my Buff a little higher on my face and lowered my Falun hat, down over my ears. The weather was ideal; the conditions would be great. Not only the winter had shown the tip of its nose, but that day, I had the opportunity to do one of the things I enjoy the most in life – skiing.

I was in Canmore, Alberta, for two weeks to enjoy the 2.3km loop of man-made snow which was named Frozen Thunder. The loop might seem short to you and it might sound weird, but I never got bored of it! Feeling the gliding sensation of the skis on snow (after a small refresher, of course) and the cold, pure air in my lungs was well worth putting the rollerskis aside, and missing school (!!).

During my time in Canmore I also had the opportunity to participate in a Women’s camp. In the middle of the camp I had the opportunity to be inspired by the most colourful and motivating Olympic athlete - Clara Hughes. For those of you who don’t know her much, her life journey explains how a very determined woman strives and struggles, with ups and downs throughout her career to achieve her goals. Here is a quote from her that I like a lot: «I am no different than all of you guys, I am a human being JUST like you!» when she said that there is no such thing as superheroes with super powers.

It was super fun training camp in Canmore and it was great to be on snow a few weeks. After Canmore I was able to come home, take an easy week and continue skiing. If there is one thing you should remember it’s that Opportunity is every where. The difference is if you decide to seize the moment or let it slip. I had the opportunity to ski on snow once I came back home. Thanks for the hard work of Forêt Montmorency.

I was able to spend quality and fun time with friends every day.

I was home to celebrate with my lovely family the 50th birthday of a loved one.

I have the opportunity and the will to pursue my science degree full time while travelling around to pursue a passion.

I have the opportunity to become a bio mechanical engineer, a physiotherapist, or even a doctor.

I have the opportunity to learn and speak English as well as some Polish.

I will have the opportunity to be home for Christmas and spend nice moments with my charming god-daughter, boyfriend, cousins, and family.

We also have the opportunity to change.

I will have the opportunity to visit one of the best places in Canada for skiing.

I will have the opportunity to race as soon as the first weekend of December.

I have the opportunity to compete against the fastest female of the country to try to get my spot for the World Juniors championship and the Olympics.

We have the opportunity to control our thoughts, invest our time wisely, and strive for what we want.

These are some of my opportunities, what are yours? How bad do you really want it?

Life is full of opportunities. Don’t let them go. Grab them while they’re in your hands because not all of us get that same chance. Seize, cherish, and live those beautiful moments... because we never know how long it is going to last.

The moment is now.

Tomorrow might be too late.

The mindful Monday
